research

it’s filled with more knowledge than i could ever wrap my head around. even if i chose one subject in particular it would take a long time to sit and read all the information on that subject. and this is just one of a handful in the surrounding area. not mention one of thousands across the country.
each a little unique in it’s content and container. each brings with it a familiar feeling, though.
i’m talking about the library.
maybe it takes us back to a happy time in our childhood. going to the library with the other children for story time! or maybe back to that day when you got your library card for the first time. oh the excitement and the joy of it.
it makes me sad to think that kids in today’s world probably miss out on these experiences because of the digital age.
the feel of a book in your hands and the paper between your fingers as you turn the page just doesn’t have that same appeal to them anymore.

so my thoughts progressed as i sat and did some research on grant writing and as i strolled the aisles and took a few photos of row after row and stack after stack of books. what a captivating sight.
visit your local library.
cooking
even though we don’t have a kitchen right now, the lack of jobs for either of us has driven us to find some very fun alternatives:
cooking is one of them.

white chocolate raspberry scones
it’s a fun process and it’s something that we can enjoy together. we don’t even get in each other’s way too much while we’re doing it. i think it fits both our personalities real well also. We both love reading and making, acquiring knowledge and working with our hands. the concepts of cooking are fascinating as well. A lot of different and unique, sometimes crazy, ingredients come together under different methods of unity and under different conditions and end up making something amazing!
Not by mere coincidence either.
birthday guest post by the wife

favorite picture from the night. my 28 year-old man taking a bite out of his birthday cake. i love the look on his face. just had to share. happy birthday my corey sosebee! i love you, kris.
my birthday
It has come and gone. the 27th year of my life has been written and recorded. What a year it was. 27 seemed like a fast year. Years have different speeds I think. Some go by fast, others slow. This depends on the content of the year spoken of.
So 27 was fast a fast one. A lot happened. Much going on = it moves by quickly. I was here and there and then back here. I was not working, then I was working, then I was not working again. I was living in one house and I was single, and now I am living in a different house and am married.
What will define this year?
I do hope many things happen again (i.e. many events, travels, etc.), but then again maybe a slow year would be good too. Most of all though I hope and pray that this year is going to be about growing. While I wouldn’t mind a lot of things happening, I don’t want all the events, travels, or even my job (if i ever get one) to be what defines this year.
I want to grow in wisdom. I want to grow in knowledge and in my spiritual life. I want to grow in my relationship with my wife. I want to grow in my passions for life. I want to grow in my gifts. I want to grow in contentment. I want to grow in my relationships. I want to grow in community. I want to grow in the midst of my weaknesses as well.
I want to grow.
september
Fall is right around the corner. Oh how we can’t wait for that nice, crisp, cool weather to get here. It’s been too long that either of us have experienced the real fall season. China didn’t have one and California has never heard of it (at least Southern California hasn’t).
We found ourselves back down in Arab over labor day weekend visiting the fam. This included watching some football and eating Steve’s famous steaks cooked on the grill.
I’ve been a little under the weather the past couple days, but am hoping to get better very quickly so the wife and myself can go on my birthday backpacking trip this weekend.
As for now, we’re continuing the job search.
