where the wild things are

Kris and I went to, what we agreed on as, our first trip to the cinemas as a married couple last night. What did we see? Nothing other than Where The Wild Things Are.
Being such a popular children’s book, this one caught my attention and immediately appealed to me when I saw the first preview of it some time ago. The visual imagery was quite inspiring. I couldn’t wait to see how they continued to use it throughout the film and to see just exactly what the film was about.
A world created from the child’s imagination. A place he traveled to in order to look at himself and the others in his life. Everything, almost, made sense to him in this world and allowed him to understand what was going on in the real world.
We were pleasantly surprised at this movie and really enjoyed the experience. It is what a movie should be: wholesome, inspiring, encourages imagination, and was very creative.
We give it 2 thumbs up.

While much has happened this past month, which is the primary reason not much writing has been going on, this little post will not quite be able to hold all of it. We did want to share a little picture, though, from a picnic we took at the beginning of the fall season.
The leaves had already begun turning colors and we really wanted to get up to the mountains to take it all in, so one Sunday afternoon after church we grabbed a fried chicken picnic lunch and took off to the mountains.
We’ve wanted to return, but it seems like rain and other events have hindered almost every other weekend. Now most of the trees have shed their beautiful fall colors and it’s beginning to look and feel a lot more like winter; although I could stand for it to be a lot colder.
Enjoy this week ahead. Time to spend with family and friends, giving thanks for all that we have been given.
